Fire breaks out at Vishal Mega Mart at Karolbagh, one man trapped inside an elevator dead

Fire broke out at Vishal Mega Mart in Karol Bagh that killed a man trapped inside a lift. 13 fire tenders were pressed into action. 

The fire officials informed that the blaze reportedly started on the first floor of the building at 6:44 pm on July 4 due to a short circuit. Initial attempts were made to douse the fire using in-house fire extinguishers, but the flames quickly spread throughout the store. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed.

In a similar incident, a fire broke out at the AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi a day before after a blast in an electric transformer, causing panic in the area. No injuries have been reported so far.

The blaze erupted in a 33,000-volt electric transformer located within the Trauma Centre premises. Fire officials received the alert around 3:35 pm and eight fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site. There were no casualties reported in the incident, police added.
