Four dead, three injured in a fire at plastic factory in Rohini in Delhi

A possible shot circuit led to fire and items of bags, garments, and glassware further spread the fire : Police

New Delhi, June 25

Four people died and three others were injured after a building housing three separate plastic item manufacturing units caught fire in the Rithala area of Rohini.

The police informed that the owner of the building is Suresh Bansal, and his son Nitin Bansal, 31, ran a factory on the ground and first floors. 

The injured include Bansal's son, Nitin. The other two injured have been identified as Rakesh, 30, and Virender, 25. They were all taken to Dr BSA Hospital for treatment adding that doctors later referred Nitin and Rakesh to RML Hospital.

The Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a call regarding the fire was received. At least 16 fire tenders were pressed into service. After five hours of painstaking efforts, at about 1.30 am, three charred bodies were recovered from inside the premises. 

The officials added that the the fire was brought under control early morning. The bodies are yet to be identified.

The primary probe suggest a short circuit led to fire. 

The rescue team had to use cranes to demolish part of the structure to extinguish the flames. The authorities stated that items such as bags, garments, and glassware were being manufactured in the units.
