ITBP embarks on all women expedition to Mt. Nun in Ladakh

This all-women expedition showcases the indomitable spirit, determination, and high-altitude endurance of the Himveer Mahilas of the force : ITBP

New Delhi, July 4

A formal flag-off ceremony was held at the ITBP Headquarters, New Delhi to mark the commencement of the ITBP Female Mountaineering Expedition– 2025 to Mt. NUN (7135 meters) located in Ladakh. 

ITBP said that this all-women expedition showcases the indomitable spirit, determination, and high-altitude endurance of the Himveer Mahilas of the Force.

The ceremony commenced with the ITBP Song, followed by a welcome speech by Ranbir Singh, DIG (Sports & Adventure). He highlighted the legacy of mountaineering excellence within ITBP and emphasized the significance of such missions in promoting resilience and operational preparedness among women personnel.

The team leader of the expedition, AC/GD Bhanita Timungpi, briefed the gathering about the route, training regimen, logistics, and technical challenges of the expedition.

Director General, ITBP Rahul Rasgotra handed over the ceremonial flag to the Expedition Leader and addressed the team with words of encouragement and inspiration. He lauded the efforts of the training directorate and the participating women officers for their courage, readiness, and commitment to national pride and adventure sports.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem and group photography, followed by high tea.

This historic expedition underscores ITBP's unwavering commitment to promoting women empowerment, adventure spirit, and mountaineering capabilities in the highest and toughest terrains.
