New Delhi, July 5

A young girl was allegedly raped at her own residence in a posh locality of Pune allegedly by a delivery man. The accused allegedly clicked a selfie and left a message on the phone stating “he had fun, he will come again”.

The accused had reached the woman's residence and claimed that a letter from her bank had arrived, requiring her signature. When she responded that she didn't have a pen, he claimed he didn't either. As the woman went to her bedroom to get a pen, the accused seized the opportunity, locked the main door from inside and entered the house. He then allegedly raped the woman.

The Pune police were called who recorded the girl's statement and told media that the accused had sprayed a chemical substance on her which left her unconscious. He then raped her. When she regained consciousness, she saw a threatening message on her phone which read, "I will come again." The accused had also taken a selfie on her phone.

The Pune police have however now claimed that the woman and accused are known to each other.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the woman and the accused knew each other and were in contact for almost a year. He said the woman refused to identify the accused, saying it was not him. The police got the evidence of through CCTV footage. The woman however kept refusing to identify the accused, saying he was not the suspect. No one else had gone to the building except the accused who turned out to be working in  multinational company.

Kumar added, “The accused had gone to the woman's house with her consent. The photo taken was done with the consent of both. But, the message typed on it was sent by the woman”.

The police also got call records of the woman and the accused were available with the police.

The CP told media further that police are still ascertaining why the woman made allegations of rape as her mental state is not good at present. The rape part is still under investigation.
