Amritsar police arrests two including an Army officer for espionage

New Delhi, June 24
The Amritsar Police have arrested two individuals, including an Indian Army soldier, on charges of espionage and alleged links with Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The two accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Fauji, and Sahil Masih alias Shali. Gurpreet Singh has been serving in the Indian Army since 2016 and was posted in Jammu at the time of his arrest.
The prove shows that he was in direct contact with ISI officials and had been transmitting sensitive Indian military information to Pakistan using USB drives. He had established a direct line of communication with ISI handler Rana Javed, who has now been identified as the primary coordinator on the Pakistani side.
The police seized two mobile phones used by the accused to maintain contact with ISI operatives.
The police are probing further about their suspected linkages with national or international terror groups. The forensic analysis of the devices will spill more information on the specific intelligence may have been shared during critical incidents like the Pahalgam terror attack and military operations thereafter.
