14-year-old student of East Point School in Delhi sexually assaulted, stick inserted in private parts

New Delhi, April 8

In a shameful and unfortunate incident, a 14-year-old boy studying in East Point School of Vasundhra Enclave in Delhi was assaulted by six students of the same school and sexually assaulted with a wooden stick shoved in his anal region. 

The police arrested one boy in connection with the incident and produced him before the Juvenile Justice Board. 

The police stated that incident os sexual assault took place on March 18. The issues began on March 13 when students were sitting in class during lunch after an exam. A few students were banging on the table when the class monitor reprimanded them. When the victim said they could do what they wished during recess, the monitor abused the boy’s father. 

Having lost his father four years ago, the victim warned him to not speak of his father and a physical altercation broke out between the two. Some students then complained to a teacher who made them apologise to each other.

On thr day of the incident, the class monitor’s friend called her son to a secluded part of the school claiming that the PT teacher had called him. Five boys including the class monitor ganged up on him and beat him up using a stick, alleged the mother. They then sexually assaulted him using the stick. The boy was  threatened to stay mum and if he spoke to his family, they would do the same to his elder sister, who is in the same school. 

After the victim kept quiet for few days, he egan complaining of stomach pain which did not subside despite medication. He was then taken to a hospital on March 28 where ultrasounds and CT scans revealed tears in his intestines, which required immediate surgery. 

After the surgery the surgeon informed the mother that the boy was sexually assaulted and sought details from her. As she was unaware, she asked her son who then narrated the ordeal to his mother. The mother filed a complaint with police and an FIR was registered in the police station on April 2. 

On April 6, the parents of other students gathered at the school demanding answers from the authorities. A team of around 12-15 policemen went to the school questioning the authorites abd teachers about the incident. The school principal remained missing from the school. 

The parents and citizens who learnt about the incident expressed shock on how a boy could get sexually assaulted inside a school premises. The incident took place within the school premises when the students were dispersing for home. 

The parents held a protest outside the school premises again on April 8 calling it 'Vishal Andolan' and demanded concrete answers from the school. As students refused to go to school citing stone pelting, parents expressed immense anger towards the school authorities. 

The police have filed an FIR under IPC sections of unnatural offences, voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, common intention, and criminal intimidation as well as Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

While the victim's family alleged that the police is still not acting on complaint and trying to cover up the case, the police stated that they collected the CCTV footage of the incident on April 6 where the act was reportedly recorded. The school has handed over the footage to investigators. 

The victim's sister also alleged that the other accused are not being questioned by the police. 

DCP (East) Apoorva Gupta stated that they have spoken to the victim however he has yet not spoken fully about the incident. One CCL has been arrested who was sent to Juvenile Justice Home after he was produced in JJ Board.
