Bomb threat to Delhi schools- IP address traced to Budapest

The hoax threat emails were routed through the mail server mail.ru, a service based in Russia

New Delhi, May 22

The Delhi Police has traced the IP (internet protocol) address of the bomb threat emails that were sent to around 150 schools in the capital city, to Budapest.

Around 150 schools in Delhi-NCR were given bomb threats through emails leading to chaos and Delhi police searching premises of the schools with bomb and dog squads. The threats were hoax and found to be sent to create chaos.

The primary probe had suggested that the hoax threat emails were routed through the mail server mail.ru, a service based in Russia. Delhi Police through coordination with Interpol had found more leads in the investigation.

The investigators then contacted the Russian-based mailing service company 'mail.ru' through Interpol. They were investigating the IP address used to send the emails, along with the sender's identity and the origin of the emails, to uncover the conspiracy and motive behind the bomb hoax

The IP address was the  traced to Budapest. The investigators will now contact their counterparts in Hungary to get to trace the sender. However, the Delhi Police suspects a larger conspiracy in the case.
