Congress files police complaint against minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for remarks of "terrorist" on Rahul Gandhi

Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu had allegedly called Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi a “number one terrorist of the country"

New Delhi, September 19

The Congress party has filed a police complaint against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for allegedly calling Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi a “number one terrorist of the country".

Congress treasurer and former Union Minister Ajay Maken also lodged complaints against three other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders for making objectionable remarks against Gandhi.

The complaint has been filed at Tughlak Road Police Station in Delhi. Apart from Bittu, the other leaders named in the complaint are Tarvinder Singh Marwah, a former BJP MLA from Delhi, BJP-supporting Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, and Raghuraj Singh, a minister from Uttar Pradesh.

As per the complaint, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah had issued a death threat to Rahul Gandhi in Delhi last week. He noted that last week, Marwah had said, "Rahul Gandhi, be careful, or the same fate will happen to you as it did to your grandmother." (Translation of Marwah's Hindi statement)

Congress leader Ajay Maken told media outside the police station, “We all know that Indira Gandhi was martyred after taking 34 bullets to her chest. Rajiv Gandhi was blown to pieces because he initiated peace talks. Rahul Gandhi's family has made sacrifices for the country, and today, Rahul Gandhi is being told to be careful, or he will meet the same fate”.

The Congress leader also pointed out another leader from a BJP ally said that anyone “who cuts off Rahul Gandhi's tongue would be rewarded with 11 lakh rupees.”

The Congress has requested the registration of an FIR under sections 351, 352, 353, and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the earliest.
