CRPF receives notable success in anti-militancy and counter-insurgency operations

In one month, CRPF made notable seizures, surrendered over 42 Maoists and recovered huge haul of arms and ammunition

New Delhi, March 1

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has achieved significant successes across multiple operational theatres—Left Wing Extremism areas, Jammu & Kashmir, and the North-East insurgency. 

The CRPF informed that three arms (2 from Jharkhand and 1 from Balaghat), 90 ammunition, 34 IEDs, 15 Gelatin sticks, 16 detonators, 325 spikes, 2 grenades etc have been recovered from different parts of LWE affected states.

A total of 22 Maoists were apprehended, including 17 in Chhattisgarh and 4 in Telangana.

42 Maoists surrendered during this period, with 11 in Chhattisgarh and 19 in Telangana choosing to lay down arms.

On 1st February, the 131 Battalion and 203 CoBRA busted a country made weapon making camp site of maoists and recovered Generator, Iron rods, Sulphur and potassium powder, Gun powder, medicine and other miscellaneous items in Sukma, Chhattisgarh.

On 10th February, the 151 Battalion recovered a dump of BGL parts along with electrical wire, iron plates, iron rods, steel pipes and other miscellaneous items while busting a country made weapon making camp site of maoists in Koragutta, Bijapur.

During this period, 15 ammunition, 01 grenade and 10 RPGs have been recovered.

On 4th February, the 180 Battalion CRPF, in coordination with the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG), apprehended one Over Ground Worker (OGW) from Awantipura, Pulwama.

The 03 Battalion CRPF, along with the Assam Rifles and SOG, recovered 10 RPGs from Athwatoo, Bandipora, dealing a major blow to terrorist networks.

The CRPF while combating left eng extremism seized a total of 15 arms (including 12 from Bishnupur), 61 ammunition (in Manipur), 24 grenades (in Manipur), 03 bombs, 02 IEDs, approximately Rs. 7.5 in cash, 2 kgs of narcotics etc have been recovered, disrupting insurgent activities.

10 insurgents were apprehended across the region during this period.

On 7th February, the 8 Battalion CRPF, in joint operations with local police, recovered arms and other materials from Bishnupur.
