In a shocking incident, a constable from Delhi Police was stabbed to death in Southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri. The Special Cell of Delhi Police eliminated the accused in an encounter.
Constable Kiranpal was found in an unconscious condition at Sant Ravidas Marg in Govindpuri area.
The accused was identified as Raghav alias Rocky (20). The police stated that he would often show clout in the area and post pictures of himself brandishing a pistol and a knife on social media. However, he has no criminal past.
As per the case details, Constable Kiranpal, along with Constables Banai Singh and Sunil, was stationed at a police booth near Arya Samaj Mandir. In wee hours, Sunil left for some official work. When he returned, he found Kiranpal missing, and calls to his phone went unanswered. The constable began a search and found Kiranpal unconscious with stab wounds near Sant Ravidas Marg, in Govindpuri. He was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
The police while probing the case and hunting for more accused got intel on Rocky, after which the teams rushed to arrest him. He allegedly fired at police in an attempt to flee; police fired in self defense. A total of 10 rounds were fired from both sides. The police seized .32 bore pistol with two live rounds from the spot.
The police added that on the day of the incident, the four accused were roaming on the road after leaving a birthday party. They were picking fights with people, during which they also stabbed two others who sustained minor injuries. Kiranpal spotted them and the fourth person who was with them left. Police said he asked them what they were doing at that hour on the road and even frisked and checked Rocky’s phone.
He was carrying a knife which apparently fell on the road. During the argument with Kiranpal, Rocky picked up the knife and allegedly stabbed him, police added.
