Delhi Police Outer North District busted a gang involved in blackmarketing of oxygen concentrator

Delhi Police Outer North District busted a racket of black marketing of oxygen concentrator machines highly required equipment for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. 

The accused were identified as Anuj Jain(40) from Janakpuri, Shekhar Kumar (37) from SagarPur, Keshav Chaudhary from  Vaishali Ext and Anil Jain from Janakpuri, 

The police seized 115 Oxygen concentrator machines, Rs 4,90,000/- of cash and two vehicles (Mahindra XUV-500 & Swift).

The police had received information that a person namely Anuj Jain is selling oxygen concentrator machine on higher price through black-marketing.  On this a raiding team was constituted and HC Arun Kumar was sent a decoy customer to purchase the machine.  

The police added that he found one person Anuj Jain alongwith one Shekhar Kumar present in a Swift Car No. DL-9CP-8611 at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Delhi.  Above said Anuj Jain agreed to sell one oxygen concentrator machine for Rs. 1,10,000 and accepted Rs 5000 as a token money. On this, HC Arun signalled to the team and the raiding party immediately apprehended both persons and recovered total five oxygen concentrator machines form their car. 

The police have booked the accused under Section 420, 269, 188, 120B and 34 of the IPC, 3/7 Essential Commodity Act & 3 Epidemic Disease Act  

The officials added that the accused disclosed that they have also stocked more oxygen concentrator machines their house at Janakpuri Delhi for selling on higher price in black market. 

A joint raid was conducted at his house at Janakpuri Delhi and 60 more oxygen concentrator machines were also recovered. Also during the raid and search another car No. DL14CQ 2222 with five other oxygen concentrator machines was also seized and Keshav Chaudhary  was arrested.  

The accused persons were operating from a godown at Janakpuri, which was found locked and there was possibility to found more oxygen concentrator machines in the said godown. A police team was deployed at the godown and investigation of the case was carried out, officials added. 

During further investigation the accused persons were produced before the court and Anuj was taken police custody remand while the other two accused persons were remanded to judicial custody.

When the police searched the godown they were shocked to find that one of the brothers of Anuj, Anil Jain was present inside the locked godown along with 45 oxygen concentrators. He was also arrested and on further interrogation he got Rs. 4,90,000/- in cash recovered from the office in that godown which was alleged to be the amount received by selling oxygen concentrators in the black market. 

The police stated that Anil Jain was also arrested by crime branch in 2017 for changing old currency note worth Rs. five  crores. The police are further investigating the case.
