Delhi witnesses a drop in crime rate in first 3 months of 2025 viz a viz crime recorded in last two years

The Delhi Police released fresh data on the crime rates stating that the the national capital saw a drop in heinous crimes in the first three months of 2025.
The data showed that a total of 907 such cases were registered between January 1 and March 31, compared to 1,198 cases in the corresponding period in 2024 and 1,078 cases in 2023.
As compared to last year (455), the number of rape cases dropped by 18.68% with 370 cases filed between January 1 and March 31. In 2023, 422 rape cases were filed during this period.
A drop of 14.63% was registered in molestation cases in the first three months this year compared to 2024. While last year 444 such cases were filed, 379 cases were registered this year. In 2023, 547 molestation cases were recorded between January and March which is 30.71 % higher compared to this year.
The city recorded a slight dip in cases related to kidnapping and abduction with the Delhi Police registering 1,360 cases between January 1 and March 31 in 2025, down by 2.36% as compared to last year and 3.75% compared to 2023, the data showed.
However, 107 murder cases were reported between January 1 and March 31, a slight uptick from 105 in 2024 during the same period, but lower than 115 cases filed in 2023. Attempt to murder cases, however, followed the overall trend, going down by 17.24 % to 168 as compared to 203 in 2024.
While robbery cases went down by 25.7% compared to 2024 and 16% compared to 2023, snatching cases were down by 37.71% compared to the corresponding period last year.
