New Delhi, January 24
The Uttar Pradesh have set up elaborate security and restricted zones on the biggest bathing day at Mahakumbh 2025 falling on January 29 on the occasion on Mauni Mavasya.
The police have set up no VIP zone and no vehicle zone to avoid stampede like or chaos like situations. This means there will be no VIP protocol for dignitaries or a pass system for any of the visitors, including devotees, and vehicles will not be allowed beyond the designated parking lots.
The pontoon bridges will have one-way traffic for an ease of movement or they will be closed down, it is learnt. Even akharas will be allowed entry and exit on the basis of specific slots allotted to them. “No vehicle movement will be allowed in the Kumbh area from January 27 to January 30.
Since sadhus from as many as 13 akharas will also take Shahi or Amrit Snan on January 29, exclusive entry and exit routes have been designated for them in the Sangam area. Additional security personnel have also been deployed to ensure the entry or exit routes are followed properly.
Apart from Prayagraj, even Ayodhya, Varanasi and other religious towns have been put on alert as they are also expected to witness a heavy flow of pilgrims on and around Mauni Amavasya. Ayodhya is likely to witness an average daily footfall of 10-15 lakh on these days given the number of people visiting the temple town of late.
While Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to take a dip at the Sangam in the last week of this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Prayagraj in the first week of February.
