New Delhi, June 24
A local BJP leader and aide to Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya was shot dead in Indore.
The deceased was identified as Monu Kalyane, who served as the city vice president of BJP’s Yuva Morcha. He was known for his close ties to Vijayvargiya and his son, former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya.
The police have identified two accused- Piyush and Arjun, both who live near victim's residence. The primary probe suggests enemity between them. Both the assailants are currently absconding.
The police stated that Kalyane was approached by the two men on a bike while he was putting up banners and posters for a saffron vehicle rally in the city’s Chimanbagh area. The duo asked for his phone number, and as Kalyane took out his mobile, one of them pulled out a pistol and shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene.
He was rushed to the hospital by his friends, where he was declared dead by the doctors.
Kalyane was known for organising grand programmes in his area, which were often attended by senior BJP leaders and other prominent figures.
Speaking to reporters, Kailash Vijayvargiya expressed his grief at Kalyane's death and said strict action will be taken against the culprits.
