The STF arrested the module head Muhammed Habibullah from his residence in Paschim Bardhaman

New Delhi, June 24

The West Bengal Special Task Force busted a new cross-border terror module named 'Shahadat Al Hiqma'. This terror module is found to be linked with activists of ‘Ansar Al Islam’, a banned outfit in Bangladesh affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

The STF arrested the head (Ameer) of the module identified as Muhammed Habibullah, from his residence in Paschim Bardhaman. He is a second-year Computer Science student. The force has detained five more boys with him.

According to the STF, the investigation has found that the members of the group mostly communicate through a cryptic messaging platform ‘BiP’. They are secretly working with the purpose of committing acts prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India and Bangladesh.

The STF added that the accused was trying to recruit youths from Paschim and Purba Bardhaman districts for the terror outfit.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA)
