100 schools in Delhi receive bomb threat, central agencies asked to probe

The schools have been receiving bomb threats in the past in six instances earlier the investigators had found use of dark net in the process

New Delhi, May 1

Around 100 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received a bomb threat email in the on May 1. The authorities have roped in central agencies to probe the case. 

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena spoke with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora requesting for a detailed investigation into the recent bomb threats targeting schools across Delhi-NCR. 

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has urged the citizns not to panic and directed the invstigation agencies to conduct a through prove and nib the bud. 

The threat mails were received by Mother Mary School at Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School at Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Delhi Public School at Vasant Kunj and Amity School in Saket, among others. 

The police informed that the schools received the threats on their official email IDs around 4 am. 

As soon as the information was received, the Delhi Police sprung to action and teams rushed to the respective schools. They evacuated the school premises. The police alongwith the bomb disposal squad and dog squads are carrying out a search operation. The Delhi Fire services was also pressed into action. 

The police have registered cases in respective police stations while the cybercrime cell has been asked to identify the email sender and track.

The officials added that it is suspected that the database of all the schools was compromised and the emails were sent. We have informed the Special Cell and IB officials and the origin email sender is being traced.

Similar emails were received in other states in the last two days as well, officials further added.
