New Delhi, June 3
The 18th BSF Contingent, led by Commandant Kailash Singh Mehta, is all set to depart for the MONUSCO UN Peace keeping Mission in Beni, Democratic Republic of Congo on June 4.
The contingent has a total of strength of 160 members, comprising 7 officers, 9 SOs & 144 other ranks, including a woman medical officer and 24 Mahila Constables.
The contingent was given a send off today at BSF Force HQrs in the presence of Daljit Singh Chawdhary, Director General, Border Security Force, and other senior officials. The contingent will be replacing the 17th BSF contingent which until now was deployed in Beni, Democratic Republic of Congo and is returning on 04 June 2025.
The 18th BSF contingent has successfully underwent 11 week long pre- deployment training and their Assessment of Operational Capability (AOC) test was carried out by United Nation Formed Police Assessment Team (FPAT) at 95 Bn BSF, New Delhi from June 3 to June 7.
The training covered various aspects of UN Peace keeping guidelines, SOPs and policies, public order management, human rights, SGBV (sexual and gender-based violence), VIP Security, protection of civilians, security of UN installations, protection of women and child rights and more.
The deployment of the 18th BSF contingents in UN Peace keeping Missions is a testament to India's commitment to global peace keeping efforts.
