AAP leader Arvin Kejriwal attacked, accused held

The accused told police he was frustrated over the non-payment of salary

New Delhi, December 2

Former CM of Delhi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal  was attacked by a bus marshal during his padyatra in Malviya Nagar of South Delhi. The Delhi Police have arrested the accused.

The accused was identified as Ashok Kumar Jha, a bus marshal from Khanpur Depot. Jha tried to throw a liquid at Kejriwal while he was greeting people in the area.

The police also seized a seized a plastic glass an bottle filled with one-third of the liquid from his posession. 

DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan told media that proceedings under sections 126 and 169 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated against Ashok Kumar Jha to bound down him from repeating such offence in future. 

During questioning, Jha told police he was frustrated over the non-payment of salary. The police have not found anything suspicious in connection with Jha, and that it appears he was the only one involved in the incident.

Speaking at a press conference, Arvind Kejriwal said, “The liquid thrown on me was harmless, but it could have been dangerous. This is the third attack on me in the last 35 days.”
