The Andhra Pradesh Police rescued a 22-year-old woman who had been missing for nine months, in Jammu. The police also arrested one person has been arrested, and a kidnapping case has been filed against him.
The police said Tejaswini (22), a student from Machavaram in Andhra Pradesh's disappeared on October 28, 2023, with her senior, Amjad.
Her parents then filed a missing complaint. However, there was no progress in the case. On June 22, Tejaswini's mother, Sivakumari, sought help from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The investigation revealed that Amjad had initially taken the victim to Hyderabad. Due to financial constraints, they sold their mobile phones and Tejaswini's gold ornaments. They moved through Kerala, Mumbai, and Delhi before reaching Jammu.
The police added that in Jammu, Amjad found work at a hotel but did not allow Tejaswini to have a mobile phone. When Amjad was away, Tejaswini sent an Instagram message to her elder sister. This clue helped the police, who coordinated with Jammu police.
The Jammu police located and detained both Tejaswini and Amjad who have been charged under Sections 366 (Kidnapping) and 344 (Wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
