BSF and Punjab ANTF launch join operations; seize narcotics and arrests three smugglers

New Delhi, February 13
The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Amritsar, launched a joint operation and seized narcotics from Amritsar in Punjab.
The BSF stated that the joint team established a checkpoint near village Chota Fatehwal, District- Amritsar. As a result of the operation, two Indian smugglers were apprehended, two packets of suspected heroin (gross weight: 1.100 kg) and 01 motorcycle were seized.
Both apprehended individuals are residents of Village Sarang Dev, Police Station Ajnala, District Amritsar. They are currently in the custody of ANTF Amritsar for further investigation.
BSF informed that this operation is part of the ongoing coordinated efforts between the BSF and Punjab Police to curb smuggling activities along the International Border. The apprehension of these smugglers, along with the seizure of the suspected heroin consignment, highlights the professional competence and dedication of BSF troops in securing the nation’s borders and combating cross-border smuggling activities.
In another coordinated operation, the BSF and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Amritsar successfully apprehended three Indian nationals in possession of suspected narcotics in the border area of district Gurdaspur.
The officials stated that on February 7, based on specific intelligence input received by ANTF Amritsar regarding suspicious movement of 2-3 individuals, the information was shared and corroborated by BSF intelligence wing. Upon confirmation, a joint operation was launched, leading to the apprehension of three suspected smugglers along with two packets (1.069 Kg) of suspected heroin from the area adjacent to Gurdaspur.
The seized narcotics were wrapped with yellow adhesive tape and are suspected to have been drone-dropped, as a nylon string was attached to the packets. All the three apprehended persons are resident of village- Purana Taragarh distt- Pathankot, BSF informed
