The Border Security Force (BSF) at the Lakshmipur Border Outpost under  67 Battalion of the South Bengal Frontier, once again thwarted a gold smuggling attempt along the India-Bangladesh International Border in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

Acting on given intelligence, BSF successfully apprehended a smuggler red-handed while he was attempting to smuggle gold from Bangladesh into India. During the operation troops seized 1 gold bar and 16 gold biscuits, weighing a total of 2.451 kg. The estimated market value of the seized gold is Rs. 2.42 crores.

The BSF stated that jawans of 67 Battalion of the BSF received reliable intelligence indicating a possible gold smuggling attempt from the Laxmipur area. Acting on this information, all patrol parties and check posts of the concerned border outpost were put on high alert.

On the morning of June 24, at around 7:45 AM, a suspicious motorcycle was spotted approaching from the direction of Laxmipur village. The motorcycle was stopped for inspection. Observing the rider's suspicious behavior, the jawans conducted a thorough search and found two packets wrapped with plastic tape, hidden under the seat cover.

During preliminary questioning, the smuggler revealed that he had received the gold from a person in Laxmipur village and was on his way to deliver it to an unknown individual at the Bangaon bus stand via Boyra village.
