The Bulandhahr police arrested three men in an encounter for their alleged involvement in raping a teenage girl inside a moving car .
The victim's friend who was also there with her was allegedly thrown out of the moving car by the accused at the time of the crime and later died due to injuries suffered in the fall.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh (23) and Amit (22) both residents of Surajpur of Greater Noida and Gaurav (22), a resident of Loni Dehat in Ghaziabad.
The three accused were wanted for allegedly raping a teenage girl a minor in a moving car in Bulandhshahr on the night of May 6.
The official said that when the police team tried to intercept the vehicle, the driver tried to run over the police personnel and sped away without stopping. The team alerted Khurja Nagar police station was alerted about the vehicle and another team reached the spot. The driver steered the vehicle away from the highway and turned it towards a garden nearby, where his vehicle got stuck in the mud.
The three suspects were soon surrounded by the police and they (suspects) opened fire. The police fired in retaliation and two of the accused, Sandeep and Gaurav, were shot in the leg and were later admitted to a hospital.
The police have seized two pistols, along with live and empty cartridges, and a car that was used in the incident.
The victim told police that Amit and Sandeep picked her and her friend in the car from Greater Noida around 8 pm on the pretext of helping her secure a job. They forced them to have alcohol and drove around Noida till around 1:30 am and another man also entered the vehicle by then. When the girls objected, they threw her friend out of the moving car, took victim to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her.
The accused have been booked under section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 70(2)(gang rape), 351(2)(criminal intimidation) of BNS and relevant sections of POCSO.
