Red Notice subject Angad Singh Chandhok wanted by CBI deported from USA

New Delhi, May 24
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has closely coordinated and succeeded in return to India of a Red Notice Subject and Proclaimed offender Angad Singh Chandhok wanted by CBI in a 2014 bank fraud case.
The CBI said that Angad Singh Chandhok, is wanted by CBI in a bank fraud case registered in July 2014 the allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery. The subject along with his family members: Father Surendra Singh, Mother Harleen Kaur and Brother Harsahib Singh in criminal conspiracy with four other accused including bank officials had cheated the Union Bank of India causing wrongful loss to the bank.
The subject along with his family members fled from the country in year 2016 to escape from the legal proceedings. They were declared Proclaimed Offenders and open-ended arrest warrants were issued against them by the learned court.
CBI had got issued a Red Notice against the subject from INTERPOL in 2017 and was circulated to all the law enforcement agencies globally for tracking of the wanted criminal and followed up through INTERPOL channels regularly. On the strength of our Red Notice, subject was deported from USA to Delhi.
The Red Notice subject on arrival at IGI airport, New Delhi from USA was detained by CBI. After legal compliances, the accused subject was arrested and produced before the concerned Court, from where he was sent to the judicial custody, said CBI.
Efforts are continuing for return of family members of the subject, who are other wanted accused in this case. The return of the subject, main co-conspirator in the fraud, will help in starting the trial, officials added.
CBI as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India coordinates closely with all Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in the world for cooperation and assistance via INTERPOL Channels. Since, 2021, over 100 wanted criminals have been returned to India through coordination via INTERPOL channels
