CBI apprehends Inspector of Delhi Police in a bribery case

Inspector of Jyoti Nagar police station demanded Rs. 5 lakhs and settled for Rs. 3 lakhs and got caught accepting Rs. 50,000 from the sought bribe amount

New Delhi, July 12

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended an Inspector from Delhi Police while accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from complainant. 

The CBI registered a case against an Inspector of  Jyoti Nagar police station on allegations that accused demanded bribe of Rs. 5 lakh for settling criminal case registered against two complainants under SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.

After negotiation, accused reduced bribe amount and agreed to accept bribe of Rs. 3 lakh.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the said accused red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the complainant.

The agency also conducted searches at the residential and official premises of the accused.
