CBI arrests an Indian Railways employee in UP for accepting bribe

The officer demanded bribe of Rs. 50,000 at the rate of Rs. 100 per ton for loading materials from the Railway Material Depot : CBI

New Delhi, November 14

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested from Indian Railways in Gonda (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000/- from complainant.

The CBI arrested a SSE from the Truck Depot in the railways. 

A case was registered by  CBI against accused on the basis of complaint.  It was alleged that accused officer demanded bribe of Rs. 50,000 at the rate of Rs. 100 per ton for loading materials from the Railway Material Depot. 

It was further alleged that over the last two months, approximately 500 tons of Railway materials have been loaded and accused was threatening to obstruct the complainant’s work and to cancel the ongoing tender if the bribe was not paid.

The CBI laid a trap and caught said accused red-handed while accepting bribe amount of Rs. 50,000/- from complainant.
