CBI arrests ASI of RPF and Railway technician in bribery case

Accused were demanding a bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs (later on reduced to Rs 25,000) from the complainant for not arresting him and not impounding his vehicle (dumper) : CBI

New Delhi, March 27

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  arrested two accused including an ASI of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and a Technician (Electrical) of Railway Station, Lalkuan, Haldwani for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.

The CBI said that a case was registered by CBI against an ASI of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Post, Kathgodam Railway Station and an another official of Railway Station, Lalkuan on a complaint. It was alleged that accused were demanding a bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs (later on reduced to Rs 25,000) from the complainant for not arresting him and not impounding his vehicle (dumper) in a FIR under Railway Act, registered against the complainant on allegations of damaging railway Gate at Sheeshmahal Fatak, by his dumper (Vehicle). After negotiation, accused intermediary agreed to  accept the bribe amount to Rs. 20,000.

The CBI laid a trap and caught both accused red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.
