The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI has arrested a branch manager, Bank of Baroda in Bulandshahar of UP for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant.
The accused branch manager demanded the bribe through signed bank cheque and was caught encashing the same.
A case was registered by CBI on the basis of a written complaint against said Branch Manager, Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr. It was alleged that the wife of the Complainant had applied for loan of Rs. 80 lakhs from Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr.
The public servant Branch Manager allegedly demanded illegal gratification of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant, in order to sanction the loan of Rs. 80 lakhs. It was also alleged that the accused public servant had insisted that the bribe of Rs. 1 lakh should be delivered to him through duly signed bank cheque so that he could withdraw the bribe amount himself.
Thr CBI laid a trap and the duly signed blank cheque was handed over to the accused by the complainant during trap proceedings. As soon as accused Branch Manager withdrew the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh by using the said cheque of Complainant, CBI team apprehended him and recovered the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh from his possession.
The agency is conducting at residential premises of accused at Bulandshahr and Delhi. A Pistol was recovered from his residential premises at Bulandshahr during search operation and same was handed over to the local police, officials added.
