CBI arrests two two including Station Fire Officer of Fire Station Manimajra in Chandigarh

The CBI also conducted searches at official and residential premises of the both accused which led to recovery of Rs. 4.00 lakh cash from the house of accused SFO and incriminating documents

New Delhi, November 9

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two accused including Station Fire Officer (SFO) and other official of Fire Station Manimajra in Chandigarh for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 80000 from the complainant.

The CBI had registered a case in November against accused Station Fire Officer (SFO) Fire Station Manimajra, Chandigarh on the basis of a written complaint by a person who is working as Engineer in a company which deals in fire safety equipments. 

It was alleged that complainant’s company installed firefighting and fire alarm system in a business premises at Chandigarh. It was further alleged that accused Station Fire Officer (SFO), Manimajra visited the premises and demanded Rs.1.00 lakh for issuing NOC for the said fire fighting and alarm system installed by the complainant’s company.

The CBI laid a trap and caught accused Lead Fireman red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.80,000 from the complainant at the behest of accused SFO, Fire Station, Manimajra. Later both accused public servants were arrested. 

The CBI also conducted searches at official and residential premises of the both accused which led to recovery of Rs. 4.00 lakh cash from the house of accused SFO and incriminating documents.
