Christian woman sought help of VHP in Mangaluru following police inaction on a man who sexually harassed her daughter

New Delhi, December 29
A Christian woman sought help of Vishwa Parishad (VHP) in Mangaluru after a man was allegedly sexually harassing her daughter. The woman approached VHP citing police inaction.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Sharief Siddique (49), a resident of Chokkabettu.
The woman reportedly ran pillar to post seeking police's help however she claimed she got no aide.
The woman then wrote a letter to the VHP seeking their intervention and stated that the police and her community leaders were not helping her. The letter later went viral on social media.
The woman complained in the letter that Siddique had been sexually harassing her daughter for four years. She mentioned that she went to Mangaluru South and Urwa police several times but received no help.
After the letter went viral, the Surathkal police registered a case under Sections 354 and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested Siddique. A police officer said that Siddique was giving the victim sedatives.
