CISF expands by manifold in one year, marking new heights

CISF on its 56th Raising Day lists out it's work of securing one crore people every day

New Delhi, March 7

During the last 56 years, CISF has grown manifold in its capability and  capacity. 

With the strength of nearly two lakh personnel, CISF provides security cover to 359 vital installations spread across 25 states and 05 UT’s guarding 68 airports, Delhi Metro Rail, 103 Power Plants, 18 nuclear installations, 17 establishments of Department of Space, 47 Government buildings housing major ministries of Government of India, 14 Seaports, 6 Defence Units, 37 Oil & Natural Gas units, 19 Steel plants and 10 Coal Mines. 

The Special Security Group (SSG) of CISF provides security to over 150 protectees. The CISF special fire wing with nearly 9000 personnel provides fire management services to 113 units spread across 22 states of the country. 

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2024

A. OPERATIONAL 

 SECURING ONE CRORE PEOPLE PER DAY 

 Airports : 10 lakh passengers 

 Delhi Metro Rail : 75 lakh Passengers. 

 Other Units : 15 lakh people 

 ZERO CRIME IN 75% OF THE 359 UNITS SECURED BY CISF 

 LIFE SAVING ACTION: During the year 2024, more than 100 precious lives were saved by the CISF personnel during medical contingency, fire incidents & by preventing suicide attempts by civilians. 

 A notable incident response by CISF was on 18th Dec 2024 when a boat full of passengers near Gateway of India New Delhi started sinking in the sea after colliding with a speedboat near the Gateway of India in Mumbai. 

The brave personnel of the CISF Unit Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) Sheva, Mumbai and Mumbai Port Authority (MBPA) Mumbai saved 

around 50 to 60 passengers including children from drowning by timely performing CPR and clearing water from the bodies of the victims. 

 200 MISSING CHILDREN located and handed over to Parents & Child Help Line by CISF Delhi Metro Unit & other units. 

 481 WOMEN PASSENGERS IN DISTRESS rescued by CISF Delhi Metro 

Rail & other units. 

PROPERTY WORTH Rs.1054.03 was saved from destruction by CISF Fire Wing.

 PUBLIC COMMUNICATION UNIT with social Media handles established in 10 Sector across the country for Public Feedback and prompt response to Hoax Calls, tackling rumour mongering, etc.

 PROVIDING TECHNICAL CONSULTANCY SERVICES

 CISF was entrusted to provide technical consultancy services in the year 1999

 So far related 238 government, semi government and private establishments have been provided consultancy in security and fire protection

o National Stock Exchange of India Ltd., Chennai

o AIIMS, New Delhi

o Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai

o Shri Ram Janmbhumi Teerth Kshektra, Ayodhya

o SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad

o Institute for Financial Management & Research (IFMR), Sricity, Near Chennai

B. EXPANSION OF THE FORCE

 NEW INDUCTIONS :During the period from April 2024 & to Jan’ 2025,

CISF has been inducted in

 Parliament House Complex, (PHC) New Delhi

 Ayodhya Airport (UP)

 Beas Satluj Link Project (BSLP), Sunder Nagar, Mandi (HP)

 Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP/STPL), Chausa, Buxar, Bihar

 NTPC Coal Mining Project, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand

 Induction of CISF at Tuticorin and Vijaywada Airport is under consideration 

Recruitments in various Ranks/Posts: Over 31,000 manpower

addition underway : Growing up @ 10% p.a

 Recruitment completed : 14,010

 Recruitment underway : 17044

 CISF 1ST Women Battalion for Internal Security Duties: The MHA has approved the creation of the CISF's First All-Women battalion to empower women in national security and encourage female recruitment.

 Sanction of two New Battalions for Internal Security Duties by

MHA : The MHA approved two new CISF battalions. The total CISF Battalion count rises to 15.

C. INDUCTION OF TECHNOLOGY : Focus areas

 Aerial security - High Priority : A dedicated Training Center for Drone systems and Anti Drone solutions established at Maharana Pratap Regional Training Centre (MPRTC), Behror, Rajasthan.

 Aviation Security: Tech Solutions: Advanced Full Body Scanners, Video analytics, Cyber Commandoes for Cyber security.

 Integrated Advanced Command Centers with CCTV Video Analytics, Data

Analytics using AI/ML.

 Advanced Bio-metrics access control system using AI/ML.

 K9: Development of 1st CISF Dog Breeding Centre underway. Training

Dogs for Multi-Role Actions.

 Under MOD Plan- IV (2022-26), 28 Items under procurement by CISF with a financial outlay of ₹ 121.18 Crores. Some of the items under procurement:-

 Suspect Luggage Containment Vessel

 Advanced Weapons Simulator

 Containerized Shooting Range

 Micro UAV
