CISF inducted at Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Kota Project in Rajasthan

New Delhi, October 7

In a significant move towards enhancing the security and protection of critical national infrastructure, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has officially been inducted into the National Fuel Complex, Kota Project, Rawatbhata in Rajasthan. 

A total of 200 well-trained CISF personnel have been deployed headed by a Deputy Commandant rank officer to safeguard this vital facility.

In a colourful induction ceremony, CISF  took over the regular security of the NFC. 

Yogesh Mehta, Dy Inspector General, CISF, DAE-II, Zonal HQ Mumbai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. P A Pratap, Project Director, NFC Kota and Mr N Vijayaraghavan, Dy Chief Executive, NFC Hyderabad, Officials of NFC, CISF and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. 

The CISF stated that with this induction, total DAE installations under CISF security cover raised to 18 (eighteen) as on date. Now CISF is protecting total 356 Units across the country. The administrative control of this establishment will be under Inspector General, DAE & DOS, New Delhi.

The National Fuel Complex is relentlessly fuelling the nuclear power program of India. To meet the fuel requirement of the upcoming nuclear reactors NFC Hyderabad is setting up a new facility, NFC-Kota at Rawatbhata near Kota, Rajasthan. This facility is adjacent to the existing Heavy Water Plant-Kota. 

The project is spanned in approximate area of 190 hectare with additional township area of 25 hectare. The plant capacity is 500 TPY PHWR fuel fabrication and 65 TPY fuel cladding fabrication. The capacity of fuel cladding fabrication will be further augmented by 100 TPY. 

Recognizing the importance of safeguarding this facility, the decision to deploy CISF personnel has been made to ensure the highest level of security and safety standards. The induction of CISF personnel at the National Fuel Complex in Kota is a part of the Government of India's commitment to bolstering the protection of critical infrastructure, thereby ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential fuels for the nation.
