CRPF DG visits Chattisgarh after naxal attack that killed seven jawaans from Chhattisgarh police

DG Vitul Kumar Kumar will visit a few CRPF camps in Bastar region and analyse the situation

New Delhi, January 7

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Vitul Kumar reached Chhattisgarh to review the operations of his force following the tragic naxal attack in Bijapur district that killed eight security personnel and a civilian driver of their vehicle.

DG Vitul Kumar will hold  meeting with the CRPF officials to analyse the incident. He will also visit a few CRPF camps in Bastar region.

In their deadliest strike on security forces in two years, naxals blew up a vehicle using a 60-70 kg strong IED near Ambeli village. Eight security personnel four each from District Reserve Guard and Bastar Fighters, both units of state police along with the driver were killed on the spot. 

The CRPF also recovered and defused an IED weighing about 20-22 kg in the same district on Monday, around seven hours before the deadly blast.
