Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal walks out of Tihar jail as SC grants interim bail

AAP workers danced on the drums and distributed sweets to hundreds of citizens standing their watching the show. Many citizens expressed happiness for Kejriwal's interim relief.

New Delhi, May 11

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal walked out of Tihar jail after 51 days with a sea of crowd waiting to welcome him by showering flowers and shouting slogans. Kejriwal was given interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi excise policy case. 

Kejriwal was released around 5 pm on May 10. As per the court orders, he has to surrender back to court on July 2. 

He was greeted with lakhs pf people who covered the entire one kilometer stretch from Nangal Rai flyover to Tihar Jail’s gate no. 4. The supporters clad in yellow and blue were playing drums, distributing seets and raising slogans. 

The sound of ‘jail ke taale toot gaye, Kejriwal chhoot gaye’ echoed the area. AAP workers danced on the drums and distributed sweets to hundreds of citizens standing their watching the show. Many citizens expressed happiness for Kejriwal's interim relief. 

Senior AAP leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Shelly Oberoi, Kailash Gahlot, Jasmine Shah and Mahabal Mishra as well as a few local Congress leaders were present to welcome Kejriwal. 

With their party founder and leader out on interim bail, the AAP will kick off huge campaigns in the city till Delhi goes to vote on May 25.
