Delhi Crime Branch busted an interstate gang of suppliers of Marijuana and arrested one more accused.
The accused was identified as Aas Mohd (35) from Muzaffarnagar in U.P.
The crime branch seized a total 1502 kg marijuana from a truck, which was kept in 43 bags. This is one of the biggest recoveries of Marijuana by Crime Branch Delhi police.
The special task force of the crime branch has been working on the drug cartels since last 3-4 months. The agency zeroed in on a few accused who were supplying Marijuana in Delhi & NCR after procuring it from the jungles of Orissa – Andhra Pradesh border. A day before, the agency seizes 445 kg marijuana was also recovered from the two cartel members.
Following the arrest of the two, the crime branch received input about the third drug peddler who was going tk enter the city with over 1500 kgs of marijuana.
The agency laid a trap on Mathura Road and apprehended Aas Mohd. During the search of the vehicle, total 43 bags containing 1502 kg “marijuana” recovered which was veiled behind bananas.
During interrogation, Aas Mohd disclosed that he had loaded the recovered contraband Marijuana from the jungle areas of Orissa-Andhra Pradesh border in Vishakhapattanam District of Andhra Pradesh.
Aas Mohd worked as a driver. Six months ago, while he was working as a driver, he came in contact of some persons who were supplying contraband in Delhi & NCR from the jungles of Andhra-Orissa borders. To earn quick money, he started to ferry contraband from there and then delivered to suppliers in Delhi-NCR.
The accused has been booked under the NDPS Act while further investigation is on.
