Delhi Crime Branch busts Bihar gang behind hostage heist in Noida

A woman was held hostage at her Noida home allegedly by her cook and his two accomplices who robbed her off Rs 60 lakhs, jewellery, and property papers

New Delhi, February 27

A woman was held hostage at her Noida home allegedly by her cook and his two accomplices who robbed her off Rs 60 lakhs, jewellery, and property papers. The Delhi Crime Branch busted a Bihar-based gang was behind the crime.

The accused have been identified as Rajesh (41) and Parveen alias Sonu alias Mota (30). Police have recovered Rs 4.7 lakhs from their possession. 

As per the case details, on February 22, the woman was at her home in Noida Sector 61 when the incident took place. Rajesh placed himself as a cook in the house and had been planning the heist for several weeks. Rajesh and his partner gained entry to the victim’s house and confined the victim. As per their plan, Sonu and two more men were positioned outside the house to keep watch. After committing the robbery, the accused persons fled in the victim’s Fortuner before abandoning it and dumped it midway fearing the GPS tracker. 

Th officials added that Sonu said he and Rajesh received a share of Rs 8 lakh from the loot, out of which Rs 4.70 lakh was recovered from them. A total of eight members including six executors, one who placed a cook in the house, and one who provided SIM cards executed the entire heist. The amount was divided amongst them as per their work.

Rajesh, originally from Madhubani, has a history of committing highly organised robberies across India. A class V dropout and has been earlier involved in multiple similar heists.
