Delhi Police arrests one in a gunfight who fired at a police constable

The Delhi Police arrested a man accused of attacking a head constable after an exchange of gunfire.
The accused were later identified as Asid and Raja.
As per the case details, the incident took place on May 27 Head Constables Karan and Pawan noticed two men on a bike during routine patrolling. When approached, one of them fled while the other was caught. The man pulled out a knife and slashed Head Constable Karan on his wrist before escaping.
The abandoned motorcycle was later confirmed to be stolen in an earlier case registered at the Pul Prahladpur police station, police added.
The police identified both suspects through analysis of CCTV footage. The police held Raja on May 30. During interrogation, Raja disclosed that he was involved in the crime along with Asif, who had attacked the head constable..
Acting on input, police teams went to arrest Asid near the service road of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
When police attempted to intercept him, he fired three shots from his pistol at the police team. In self-defence, police fired back injuring him in right leg. Asif was apprehended and found to be riding a stolen bike from a case registered at the Lajpat Nagar police station, officials added.
Asif as a habitual offender with a history of nine cases of robbery, snatching, auto theft, and firearms-related crimes.
