Delhi Police Central District inaugurated pink booths for women under 'Prashakti' for women empowerment

New Delhi, February 28

The central district of Delhi police inaugurated seven more pink booths in the district to adhere to complaints and security of women citizens.

The pink booths were inaugurated at Mata Sundari College for Women by Anu Asthana, President PFWS.

The Pink Booths are started in Central District for facilitation of women complainants and to ensure women police presence at high footfall/women dominated streets, markets, schools, colleges of Delhi.

The programme was attended by Mrs. Geeta Pathak as Guest of Honour in the presence of DCP Central Shweta Chauhan and all the police officials of the district along with 400 college girls, teachers & their parents.  

DCP Central, Shweta Chauhan highlighted the importance of Pink Booth for women & girls. She also told everyone about “Veera Squad” (all women police patrolling team) whose aim is to provide safe environment for all the women/ girls visiting/residing in Central District by patrolling in narrow streets and deserted areas. She further elaborated “Prashakti” scheme which aims at increasing visibility of women police on streets and facilitate quick grievance redressal of women complainants.

The chief guest was presented a miniature of Pink Booth at Channa market, Karol Bagh, the first Pink Booth of Delhi Police, started in Oct, 2021. This was followed by the cultural programme “Prashakti”, an empowerment initiative to celebrate the spirit of patriotism, harmony and empowerment. 

SI Kiran Sethi and her team showed self defense techniques to all the girls/women to encourage them to keep their spirit high and to defend oneself with all the courage. 

During the programme, several folk dance performances were performed and songs were sung by Police family’s children. Major attraction of the programme was being the singing performance of Master Sachin and Harsh who sang a popular song “Sandese aate hai”. At last, Punjabi Bhangra Dance was performed by students of Mata Sundari College.

The chief guest, Anu Asthana  felicitated and presented momentos to all the performers, representatives of NGOs and Principal, Mata Sundari College, who actively participated in Delhi Police Week 2022 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav for recognizing their dedicated efforts and responsibility towards society and needy. 

Anu Asthana said that Pink Booth is a novel and unique initiative for grievance redressal of women. She further envisioned a society where women are equal to men and there is no discrimination against girls.
