Delhi Police conducts mock drill in North district to prep up for I Day

New Delhi, July 8

Ahead of the Independence Day preparation for security, the Delhi Police North District conducted an anti-terror response exercise at Chandani Chowk.

The police created a mock scenario at about 5:13 PM, a PCR call was received about firing and terrorist attack outside SBI Bank, Chandani Chowk, Delhi by four terrorists, fully armed, who have injured few civilians and taken refuge in Moti Cinema Hall.

The officials said a message was flashed to all concerned agencies including CAT, Fire, DDMA, Special Cell, SWAT, BDT, DCD, MPV and Primary Counter Assault teams of Delhi Police. Within minutes of incident, a Command Post was set up under the leadership of DCP North District Sagar Kalsi. 

Five to six teams from within the North District Police were pooled in with complete bullet proof jackets and fire power to act as first responders.

DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi stated that as a part of the excercise, complete access control was established within minutes and incident site was cordoned off to avoid any further damage. All agencies responded swiftly. 

The terrorists were challenged by the team of North District along with Special Cell and SWAT team of Delhi Police under the overall supervision of the undersigned.

He added that all four terrorists were neutralized by North district team and SWAT of Delhi Police and four injured persons were immediately rushed to hospital.

In run up to Independence Day-2022 celebrations, North District will continue organizing such mock drills at important vital installations to augment Anti-Terror measures and sensitize public to stay alert, officials added.
