In view of upcoming assembly elections in Delhi and incidents of violence and criminal activity, north west district has launched “Operation Crackdown” in all police stations comprising more than 1500 police personnel are tasked with specific operations to counter specific crime under this scheme following objectives was achieved.
The officials said that a total 415 wanted criminals were arrested , total 81 were declared proclaimed offenders. These arrests included special operations conducted to nab persons involved in theft, robbery, and other serious crimes.
Out of 26 Parole Jumpers in the district, 10 were found and arrested and 21 persons have been arrested, involved in organized crimes which includes Bootlegger, Gambling, Narcotic Cases and Street Crimes.
DCP ( Northwest) Abhishek Dhania stated that the district police launched a special campaign against drugs and arrested 61 accused in 61 cases. 140 accused persons were verified by the beat staff who are on bail and previously involved in NDPS Act Cases.
In the cases of juveniles, total 53 wanted juveniles were detained out of which 18 were involved in Heinous Crime wherein Social Media Accounts of 67 Juveniles has been deactivated; they used to make reels of criminal tendency.
The police also worked kn the wanted criminals involved in Arms Act and Fire Arms wherein a total 149 Accused persons were verified who are on bail/acquitted and involved in Arms Act Cases. The police seized 22 illegal weapons and live cartridges, and also arrested 15 persons. Inhibitory Procedure/Preventive Action were followed for 81 accused persons.
DCP Dhania added that 44 cases related to cybercrimes were investigated, in which 31 criminals were arrested. Among these crimes, crimes related to fraud and digital transactions were prominent. Approximately Rs 952644, which was fraudulently withdrawn using the 1930 Income Tax Act, was prevented from going to the accused.
The police extensively worked on the illicit liquor ad gambling cases too. The district police conducted a special campaign against illicit liquor and register 123 Cases in Excise Act. 8545 liters of illicit liquor seized and 127 accused persons were arrested.
Apart from this, legal action was taken by confiscating 4 vehicles being used in smuggling.
294 Accused persons were verified who are on bail/acquitted and involved in Excise Act Cases. Inhibitory Procedure/Preventive Action were followed for 170 accused persons. Out of 294 Accused persons who were on bail, 170 were found to be BC of the area and externment proceedings were initiated against 26 accused persons.
The police took action in 107 cases of gambling and betting and arrested 127 persons and also seized illegal cash worth Rs 1,62,214.
354 accused persons were verified who are on bail/acquitted and involved in Gambling Act Cases. Inhibitory Procedure/Preventive Action were followed for 200 accused persons.
The police took action in 73 cases of robbery and snatching and arrested 55 persons. A total 350 Accused persons were verified who are on bail/acquitted and involved in Robbery and Snatching Cases. Inhibitory Procedure/Preventive Action were followed for 173 accused persons.
The North Western District made preventive arrests of 15186 persons during this period under sections 126/170, 126/169, 128, 129, 152, 164, 35 of BNSS. The preventive arrests/detention in 65 DP Act are 13736. Apart from this, 51 BCs were found absent in the district, out of which 31 were found and arrested, in which success was achieved in arresting the accused of theft and robbery.
