Delhi Police 'Operation Kawach 6.0' arrests 1,224 people at 907 locations in the national capital

‘Operation Kawach’ was started across Delhi last May 2024 to focus on identifying and apprehending individuals involved in the trafficking and distribution of narcotics

New Delhi, November 15

The Delhi Police has identified 64 locations where narcotics are reportedly being sold and conducted raids at 907 places across 15 districts during the 24-hour long ‘Operation Kawach 6.0’. 

Special CP (Crime Branch), Devesh Chandra Shrivastava said, “In a 24-hour-long operation with all districts and units of Delhi Police particiapting in multiple searches and raids, we detained 1,224 people at 907 locations. We have arrested more than 700 people”. 

The targets were mainly from the multiple gangs including those led by Lawrence Bishnoi, Neeraj Bawana, Kaushal Chaudhary, Tillu Tajpuriya, Kala Jatheri, Manjeet Mahal and Kapil Sangwan who have been creating law and order situations and violence in the city. 

The police teams identified 64 hotspot locations where narcotics are being sold in Delhi. The teams will keep 24-hour vigil at these hotspots.

Around 870 gm of heroin, 244.8 kg of ganja, 16.1 gm of cocaine, and 434 grams of MDMA were seized. 244 cans and bottles of beer, along with 29,942 quarters and 198.75 litres of illicit liquor were confiscated. 14 people were arrested in Arms Act cases with the recovery of six countrymade pistols, nine live cartridges, eight knives and 15 stolen motorcycles, officials stated. 

The police said that as part of the operation, illegal pan shops situated in the areas of eastern range comprising GTB Enclave, Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Karkardooma within the 100-m radius of educational institutions were raided and 44 people prosecuted under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.
