Delhi Police's new mission "Cops Save Lives"

New Delhi, April 22

From arranging oxygen supplies to providing food and ration to needy, there are several distress calls policemen and women are attending to.

NORTH-WEST DISTRICT-

At around 11.05 am, an email was received from Mahipal Bhanot, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh mentioning therein that the hospital is running out of stock of oxygen and presently having stock of 3-4 hours only.  They also informed that this issue was raised at various levels & with Govt authorities, however they were unable to get any firm commitment for support. They requested us to put every possible means for the arrangement of Oxygen for Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh to avoid any imminent disaster. Immediately on receipt of this information, all-out efforts were made by the DCP North-West and SHO Shalimar Bagh police station and the matter was taken up with DM North-West, the vendor and the hospital authorities. With the persistent efforts of Police officials of North-West District, the supply of oxygen to Fortis Hospital was restored. One truck with 1.5 tonn oxygen from Bawana and another truck with 2.5 tonne Oxygen from Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) duly  escorted by ERV Jeep/patrolling bikes of PS Shalimar Bagh, timely reached at Fortis Hospital. The timely action by the DCP/North-West & SHO/PS Shalimar Bagh averted the scarcity of oxygen and saved the lives of more than 200 covid positive patients of Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. There was huge relief among doctors and relatives of patients admitted in the Fortis hospital Shalimar Bagh, due to immediate response by Police staff of North-West district. The timely intervention by North West Police saved many lives..

WEST DISTRICT-

Dr. Amit Jha  from Park Hospital Khyala/ Paschim Vihar approached police station Vikas Puri in a panic situation and urged to help in arranging OXYGEN CYLINDERS as very limited stock of cylinders had left in the Hospital, which will end in few hours. After Listening the request and sensing the scenario, SHO-Vikas Puri Sh Mahendra Singh Dahiya chanellized his resources immediately and assured the Dr for full Cooperation. OXYGEN Pant at Mundka was contacted but only three cylinders could be made available from there. Then Mayapuri OXYGEN plant was contacted and approached and with good liaisons of constable Prem PS Vikas Puri police station total 27 OXYGEN cylinders were arranged to Park Hospital. There are total 100 covid patients in Park Hospital. Furthermore there are 2 Hospital in jurisdiction of PS Vikas Puri 1. UK Nursing Home, 2. JYOTI Nursing Home,  where covid patients are being treated. The local police is in touch of both the  hospitals for any kind of coordination from police side. At present there is no panic situation in both the hospitals.

Another SOS call was received at Vikas Puri police station regarding urgent requirement of one oxygen cylinder for covid patient at address, SBI Appartment, Vikas Puri. Responding diligently SHO PS Vikas Puri directed team of constables Sube Singh and Surender Dhanda to do needful on priority basis. The duo constables acted swiftly and arranged an oxygen cylinder from Naraina Plant and provided the same to the needy. 

NORTH DISTRICT-

NKS Super speciality Hospital representatives had approached Inspector J K Singh from Gulabi Bagh police station in the afternoon at around 01:00 PM that their oxygen stock is draining up and the oxygen supply is left for two to three hours only and need immediate police help in getting oxygen supply. Immediately, the information was shared with senior officers. All the possibilities of arranging the oxygen from reliable sources/dealers were explored and local police as well as senior officers liaised with the oxygen supplier in Moti Nagar and Bawana area. ACPs Moti Nagar and SHO Bawana immediately responded and remained very helpful in arranging the oxygen cylinder.  Accordingly, two vehicles left from NKS Hospital to both destinations along with one police personnel in each vehicle. 20 Oxygen cylinders were collected from Bawana and the vehicle has arrived at hospital. The other vehicle from  Moti Nagar Oxygen refilling centre has also reached the hospital

NEW DELHI DISTRICT: 

The police staff of New Delhi District is distributing the face masks KM Lane Market, New Delhi and sanitizing the area of South Avenue police station. The police staff also sensitizing and encouraging the public to maintain social distancing, wearing hand gloves & face masks and how to improve your immune system etc. through loud hailers.  The public persons praised the good work done by the police. 

On the other side, the migrant labourers are worried about their jobs and livelihood. A total number of 138 migrant labourers are residing at VidyutBhawan Lane, Tughlak Road, New Delhi and they are not aware with the guidelines issued by Delhi Govt./DDMA. The Police personnel of New Delhi guiding them through loud hailers and also providing them face masks, hand sanitizers etc. The staff of New Delhi District assured the labourers that all possible help will be provided to them at the place of their work.

During Motorcycle Patrolling by the staff of PS South Avenue, it was revealed that the labourers of CPWD, New Delhi are not getting food, water etc. since two days. Previously they arranged their essentials things by working but due to lockdown they can’t arrange. The staff of New Delhi District arranged the tea, biscuits and served to them. 

The police personnel deployed alongwith Outer force and traffic police at integrated pickets are enforcing the lockdown violations at various pickets In New Delhi District i.e. Pandit Pant Marg, Bhai Veer Singh Marg etc. The police staff is ensuring that only essential service vehicles/ persons or having curfew pass are allowed to enter in the District. While checking the vehicles/persons the staff is wearing masks, face shield and maintaining social distancing.

NORTH-WEST DISTRICT

To ensure the safety of staff on duty, North-West District distributed Covid-19 precautionary kits to Picket/Patrolling staff, as they are exposed to infection while on duty to enforce DDMA guidelines/curfew.

In North West District, ACPs Jahangir Puri, Subhash Place & Model Town distributed “Wellness Kits” to staff and ration to the needy sections in their areas.

They also distributed ration to needy persons by North West District in association with Britania Ltd. & Rajdhani.

SOUTH DISTRICT

Major Crises averted with supply of oxygen at Batra hospital with over 350 patients

An information was received at about 09:00 pm via control room south where in chief engineer RK Baniwal of Batra Hospital informed that Oxygen  is about to finish and they have only stock for two hours. He further informed that  about 350 Covid patients are under treatment in Batra and they are not sure that when  they will get Oxygen supply. Keeping in view of the sensitivity of the matter, senior officers led by DCP South immediately took charge of the situation and reached at Batra Hospital within no time.  Addl. DCP-I, ACP Sangam Vihar, ACP Lakshay and multiple SHO/Inspectors also reached immediately along with sufficient staff. Various teams were formed and  different tasks were assigned  to each team. Senior officers themselves monitored minute to minute development from Batra Hospital.  On enquiry from Hospital management and Nodal officer GNCTD it was revealed that one tanker is supposed to come from Panipat and another from Modi Nagar but they are not getting any update.  After making marathon efforts, we were able to contact the concerned drivers of the tankers through the nodel officers and owners of the suppliers.   

In the mean time one team headed by SHO KM Pur sent to Mohan Co-operative area Badarpur with 60 empty gas cylinders to get them filled. Another teams headed by SHO/ Madan Grhi, SHO Neb Sarai, SHO/Greater Kailash were sent to escort the tankers bringing Oxygen after obtaining their live locations. Finally, all the marathon efforts of the entire team resulted positively and Oxygen was restored at 12:30 mid-night within about three hours. The team and hospital staff breathed a sigh of relief. Delhi Police proved again that they are able to handle all kind of situations and their efforts were greatly appreciated. 

Shortage of Oxygen was reported in Max hospital Saket. The matter was taken up with concerned department of the hospital It was learnt that an oxygen tanker is on way from Kashipur UP for max hospital Saket. Sensing the urgency of the situation  SHO Malviya Nagar was tasked to coordinate and escort the tanker to hospital. SHO Malviya Nagar alongwith staff at once took position at Apsara Border and a green corridor was formed with sufficient force. The tanker was recieved at Apsara border and was escorted to Max hospital without wastage of time.

NEW DELHI DISTRICT

Information was received from Primus Hospital, Chankyapuri at 8.30 am today that the oxygen refilling tank that was supposed to reach at 8am from Linde company in Faridabad had not reached the hospital that oxygen availability for 150 patients will last for next 5-6 hrs only. The matter was taken up by the local police,PS Chankyapuri and Linde company was contacted which stated that their tankers were not available at the moment for the delivery. After persuading the management, a tanker was made available with liquid oxygen and under the supervision of ATO Chanakyapuri Insp Rajnish, the tanker reached the Primus hospital timely without wastage of further time.

DWARKA DISTRICT

Assistance to Manipal Hospital in Delivery of Oxygen tanker from Faridabad by staff of PS Dwarka South: Dwarka Police personnel have again proved to be frontline warriors during the surge of the corona.  They are not only doing their duties amidst challenges posed by the second wave of corona as law enforcers but are also rendering humanitarian assistance to citizens. Continuing this exercise, on 21.04.2021, the staff of PS Dwarka South assisted the Manipal Hospital in the delivery of an oxygen tanker.  Information was received at PS Dwarka South from Manipal Hospital Authorities that oxygen cylinders required for patients may not last much. On receipt of this information, SHO/Dwarka South Insp. Balbir Singh constituted a team under his supervision and all over supervision of worthy DCP Dwarka. The police immediately rushed to Faridabad Haryana along with Manipal Hospital Staff to collect the oxygen tanker for patients of the hospital. The persistent sincere efforts, bore fruitful results when one Oxygen tanker was procured from Faridabad oxygen plant. The same was escorted from Faridabad to the Manipal hospital and oxygen cylinders were filled by the Hospital staff with the help of Police staff and immediately shifted to the ICU ward of the hospital for which the doctors and family members of the patients appreciated the promptness and swift action of Delhi police. We have provided our mobile numbers to the hospital doctors so that they can contact us in case of any such need in the future.

OUTER DISTRICT

Oxygen supply was NIL in Rathi Hospital , Ranhola police station in Outer District. They had 78 patients on high flow oxygen support. With coordination by senior officers at various levels and with arrangement from other hospitals in the district following oxygen cylinders were arranged from respective locationsB Bawana- 37, Kanjhawala-40, Actionbalaji hospital -24, Mayapuri-20

SOUTH-EAST DISTRICT- 

A call was received at Sunlight colony police station from Dr. Avinder of Jeewan Hospital regarding oxygen left only for half an hour and the hospital is in urgent need of oxygen cylinders as 15 Covid patients are under treatment in the hospital and they need oxygen for their live support. Immediately, the staff of PS SLC made utmost efforts and arranged oxygen cylinders from Faridabad and delivered 17 oxygen cylinders within hours to hospital.  

OUTER NORTH DISTRICT- 

An information received from Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Narela that they is shortage of oxygen and last for only two hours. The police from Narela police station reacted swiftly and and took empty cylinders from hospital and rushed to oxygen feeling station Bawana. We supplied 20 cylinders to the hospital and saved life of 7 patients who are under treatment at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital.

NORTHWEST DISTRICT

Responding swiftly on a SOS call at 4am from Maya Munni Ram Hospital, SHO/Maurya enclave alongwith his staff arranged oxygen cylinders from anand parvat plant & timely delivered to the hospital. Thus, brought huge relief to the families of patients admitted & doctors there.

SHO Mukherjee Nagar alongwith his staff arranged three oxygen cylinders in the night itself from Mayapuri plant & delivered it timely to a family of 3 covid+ patients (Gurudatt Bhola 62 yrs, Gauri 57 yrs & karan 25 yrs). 

SHO Subhash Place alongwith his staff arranged a oxygen cylinder & timely delivered it for a Covid+ patient Gurmeet (66 yrs) in Kohat enclave.

SOUTHWEST DISTRICT- 

While Inspecting the hospitals in the area of Palam Village police station, the DCP SW when reached out side Highland Hospital one lady requested DCP either admission or gas cylinders for her husband Shyam Sunder Verma. DCP SW immediately directed SHO Palam Village to act on her request. After efforts of PS Palam Village he was admitted in Divyaprastha Hospital.
