ED attaches propertirs worth Rs. 1.29 Crore belonging to Ashish Kapoor, the then AIG Punjab Police

Ashish Kapoor extorted two persons while they were in police custody/jail and received cash and gold jewellery belonging to them and their family members, thus generated and acquired Proceeds of Crime to the tune of Rs. 1.29 crore : ED

New Delhi, May 20

Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has provisionally attached immovable property worth Rs. 1.29 Crore belonging to Ashish Kapoor, the then AIG Punjab Police under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in connection with money laundering investigation related to extortion and bribery.


ED initiated investigation on the basis of two FIRs registered by the Punjab Police against Ashish Kapoor and others under various sections of IPC, 1860 and Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 1988. 

ED investigation revealed that Ashish Kapoor extorted two persons while they were in police custody/jail and received cash and gold jewellery belonging to them and their family members, thus generated and acquired Proceeds of Crime (PoC) to the tune of Rs. 1.29 crore.
