New Delhi, September 5
The UP Police arrested a 70-year-old shopkeeper in Sitapur district after a purported video of him sexually assaulting a Dalit girl surfaced online.
The incident took place on September 4 when the girl visited the shop of the accused.
The accused was identified as Mohhamad Anwar who was subsequently arrested. He has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In a similar incident that occurred in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district, a woman living with a mental health condition was raped by three relatives.
The accused, who were drunk, took the woman to a deserted house and raped her. The accused were arrested next day morning and booked under stringent sections of BNS.
