Everest conqueror SI Geeta Samota accorded grand welcome at CISF headquarters

DG CISF declared that the Force would be sending a full-fledged CISF team to attempt Mount Everest next year

New Delhi, May 29

A wave of pride and celebration swept through the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Headquarters I  New Delhi as SI (Exe) Geeta Samota, the first CISF personnel to conquer Mount Everest, was accorded a grand felicitation upon her return to India. 

The valiant mountaineer, who planted the nation's flag on the world's highest peak on May 19, 2025, was personally honored by the Director General (DG) CISF in a special ceremony attended by senior officers of the Force.

The atmosphere was electric as DG CISF lauded L/SI Samota's monumental achievement, hailing it as a landmark moment for the CISF and the country. He emphasized that her success would serve as a powerful inspiration, significantly boosting the morale of women not only within the Force but across India. He went on to announce that Geeta Samota will be awarded the Director General’s Disc and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs for her historic achievement.

In a major announcement spurred by L/SI Samota's triumph, the DG CISF declared that the Force would be sending a full-fledged CISF team to attempt Mount Everest next year  underscoring that adventure sports will be accorded due prominence within the organization's sporting framework. 

Visibly moved by the warm reception, SI Geeta Samota expressed her profound obligation and gratitude towards the CISF for its unwavering support throughout her challenging journey. She extended special regards to the DG CISF for his constant motivation and for his open-hearted encouragement to aim for this larger-than-life goal. 

SI Geeta Samota said, "I am incredibly proud to be a part of a progressive Force like CISF. It is immensely satisfying and a great fortune for me to have become a flag-bearer for CISF in adventure sports. I pledge to extend my best possible support to the upcoming endeavors of CISF in this field.”

Following the felicitation, Geeta Samota had an opportunity to interact with members of the media. She candidly answered a variety of questions, sharing insights into her early life, the struggles she overcame, and the sweet taste of her victories. She also took a moment to express her sincere gratitude towards the media for the significant coverage and popularity her expedition has garnered, acknowledging their role in sharing her story with the nation.
