The Forensic Sciences Laboratory report said the DNA found on the fingertip and that of ice cream factory employee Omkar Pote were the same

New Delhi, June 28

The police probing the finger in the ice cream case have got the confirmation from the DNA test that the piece of finger found in an ice cream cone recently in Mumbai's Malad area is that of an employee of an ice cream factory in Indapur in Pune.

The Forensic Sciences Laboratory report said the DNA found on the fingertip and that of ice cream factory employee Omkar Pote were the same.

A part of Pote's middle finger was cut during the process of filling ice cream at the Indapur factory. It was later found in the ice cream cone ordered by a Malad-based doctor who alerted authorities, police added.

The incident was reported in June 2024, when Dr. Brendan Ferrao, a resident of Orlem in Malad, had ordered three ice cream cones through an online app.

After the shocking discovery, the doctor approached the police in Malad. A case was filed against Yummo Ice Cream company and the ice cream sample was sent for forensic investigation/
