Fire in 60 shanties in Gokulpuri area of north east Delhi kills seven

New Delhi, March 12
Seven people died and around 60 shanties were gutted in fire Gokulpuri area of North Delhi in the wee hours of March 12.
The police control room and fire services were alerted at midnight when the fire broke out in the shanties. The emergency services and police rushed to the spot.
13 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
The emergency services took pout seven charred bodies from the gutted shanties. The fire services officials took two hours to douse the fire.
The police said the primary investigation shows that there was a shot circuit in one of the shanties that led to the fie that spread in other shanties one by one as large amounts of combustible material was lying around.
The police added that the exact cause fire is under probe. The police had also sought forensic help to carry out a detailed investigation.
The police have set up relief camps for the residents and food facilities have been set up for the people.
