Ghaziabad CP brings in doorstep FID, autopsy report, verification services for citizens

New Delhi, May 3

J Ravinder Goud, the newly-appointed Commissioner of Police held a press conference and announced some new facilities for the citizens of the city. A copy of the first information report (FIR) and postmortem report will soon be delivered at the complainant’s doorstep in Ghaziabad, 

He also announced the formation of a new citizens charter to make Ghaziabad police more citizen friendly.

Ghaziabad CP, J Rvindra Goud said, “We are releasing a citizens’ chatter. We will focus on the areas of public hearings, traffic management, crime against women, and also improve the infrastructure of the police stations, pink booths, and make it more people-friendly”. 

He added, "The passport will be verified within 15 days where whereas police verification, character verification, tenant verification, servant verification, and employee verification will be done in 10 days. The NOCs (no objection certificates) will be provided in five working days,” he said. In 2024, the Commissioner said on Friday, Ghaziabad Police verified 76,653 passports, 46,180 character certificates online, and 7,683 character certificates offline. “In total, we conducted 1,49,409 verifications last year.”

He stated that the beat police officers will be assigned to specific areas to enhance community policing, improve police-public interaction, and strengthen local crime prevention efforts, officials added. 

He said, “We will have one beat (officer) for each 5,000 people. The beat police officers will be able to register crimes under section 126 (wrongful restraint), 135(assault), and 170 (bribery) of the BNS". 

The dedicated child cell for children will work all the days and the beat officers would ensure that every employee at the school is verified by the police to avoid the recent cases of sexual abuse of school girls and any incidents of crimes against girls and women.
