Haridwar police take note of viral video where a mother brutally beats up her son

The woman in the video, thrashing her 11-year-old son, staged the entire thing to scare her husband, who resided in Uttar Pradesh : Police

New Delhi, July 19

The Haridwar police have initiated action on a viral video of a woman thrashing her minor son in after the video went viral on social media. 

In the video, the woman could be seen hitting one of her sons, while the other was seen standing nearby. The video was shot by the woman's elder son, also a minor.

Taking note of the viral video, the Haridwar Police said the video is nearly two months old. In a social media post, the police also said the woman in the video, thrashing her 11-year-old son, staged the entire thing to scare her husband, who resided in Uttar Pradesh.

The police stated that the woman said her husband was an alcohol addict and did not contribute to the household expenses. The husband of the woman received the video, he posted the same on social media.

As the video became viral, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was informed, after which the woman was called upon for an interrogation.

The woman told the police she had been in a dispute with her husband over the past 10 years, over his regular drinking habits. She also told the police her husband had not been home for some months and managed a shop in Uttar Pradesh.

The police also found out that there had been no complaints against her in the past. The police were also investigating the allegations by the woman against her husband. 

The police said she would undergo several rounds of counselling.
