Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired the closing session of the two-day National Security Strategies Conference-2024 in New Delhi.
During the conference, the Home Minister proposed a detailed strategy to enhance counter-terrorism efforts, including collaboration with international agencies and enhancing capacities to curb terror financing. He also emphasized the need to enhance cooperation and coordination between the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State ATS to strengthen the counter-terrorism framework. Expressing satisfaction over the success achieved in counter-LWE efforts, the Home Minister cautioned States to remain vigilant which have recently succeeded in liberating areas from armed formations.
In his concluding remarks, the Home Minister appealed to the Directors General of Police of the States to work towards achieving the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a prosperous, strong and developed India by 2047. In this context, the Home Minister underlined that substantial progress has been achieved in resolving long-standing national security concerns such as Jammu & Kashmir, Left Wing Extremism and the North-East. The Home Minister said that it has now become imperative to identify emerging national security challenges including narcotics, drones and online frauds and tackle them before they become major challenges.
In the context of implementation of the three new criminal laws, the Home Minister urged the Directors General of Police of the States to protect the constitutional rights of citizens and ensure speedy and timely justice to the victims. He emphasized that the transformative effect of the new laws can be achieved only through a change in mindset, adoption of technology and seamless coordination. Shri Shah directed the Directors General of Police to form teams of young police officers to ensure implementation of the new laws in letter and spirit.
Shah appealed to young police officers to develop thinking for strategic solutions to deal with fraudulent financial transactions ranging from crypto to hawala.
He further appealed to all Directors General of Police to strengthen the internal security structure by adopting a multi-pronged approach, data analysis and new technologies. He urged the Directors General of Police to ensure the use of the latest form of database being prepared by central agencies.
