Huge round ups and preventive actions, Delhi Police West district takes strong steps ahead of elections

9096 persons have been detained under 65 DP Act. More than 215 criminals have been arrested in Arms Act, Excise Act, Robbery, Snatching, Auto-lifting : Delhi Police

The Delhi Police in West district of the national capital have been carrying out extensive exercises to ensure law and order as well as intensive preparations for smooth assembly elections in the district. 
 

The West district of Delhi Police is among the 15 districts carved out in the force that supervise the national capital. This district has areas of Janakpuri, Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Moti Nagar, Tilak Nagar and more. The district also has Tihar Jail under it's jurisdiction, a sensitive spot in terms of security where the prison department manages the security inside the prison complex. 


The West district police have taken various preventive actions of rounding up history sheeters, gamblers and those in conflict with law to ensure law and order prevails. 
 

The police have taken preventive action against 57 persons under Section 126/169 BNSS (Whoever voluntarily obstructs any person so as to prevent that person from proceeding in any direction in which that person has a right to proceed, is said wrongfully to restrain that person). 


Similarly, preventive action has been taken against 1423 persons under Section 126/170 BNSS, 109 persons under Section 128/170 BNSS, 266 persons under Section 129/170 BNSS . 


Section 128 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 allows Executive Magistrates to act against individuals suspected of planning to commit crimes by concealing their whereabouts. 
25 persons have been rounded up under 141 BNSS for violation of bond of maintaining peace and security. 


The police are carrying out intense area domination exercise is being conducted in all major roads and identified vulnerable pockets in West District. 


Total 15 Coys and two Section of CAPF/SAP and 1007 Home Guards have been deployed for upcoming Assembly Elections.


DCP (West) Vichitra Veer told BW POLICEWORLD, "We are carrying out area domination exercise by police and CAPF in three layers- road wise covering the whole district, police station level and cluster pocket where critical or senstive areas are located"


He added, "The bigger roads connecting the district- Najafgarh road, Ring road and Rohtak road are being watched. The critical localities and sensitive areas in view of elections were spotted. We have identified 28 such pockets where police presence and security has been intensified".

In addition to that, more than 23658 quarters, 549 Bottles, 334.90 Ltr Beer of illegal liquor seized, along with 13 vehicles used for transportation seized. 117 persons have been booked. 14 persons have been arrested with recovery of 09.565 Kg Ganja, 0.00315 Kg smack and 20 grams charas along with two vehicles.


The preparation to elections also involves the awareness campaigns and initiatives to inspire the citizen participation in democracy. 


DCP (West) added that police stations used banner, posters and helium balloons with messages to boost citizens to vote. The police also performed Nukkad Natak and other programmes in certain clusters to spread more awareness for voting in the area.
